All lectures are held as ifk live lectures via Zoom - provided the consent of the lecturers. For participation in the conferences and events outside of the house, please refer to the calendar on our website www.ifk.ac.at in the calendar.
During the semester the ifk regularly organizes events aimed at interesting both academics and the broader public, these are generally held on Mondays. You will find information regarding the most popular event formats on this website. Unless otherwise announced, all ifk events are open to the public, free of charge, and require no pre-booking.

You can order the biannual ifk NOW print magazine, which contains the semester program here.
ifk Lectures are generally held on Mondays or Wednesdays at 18:15, and close with an open discussion. Thereafter, you can round off the evening with a glass of water or wine, and take an opportunity to chat with other event attendees.
Most ifk Lectures are given by current ifk Fellows, who use the opportunity to present their portions of their current work.
The Carl E. Schorske Lecture in honor of cultural historian Carl E. Schorske (1915-2015) is held annually during the summer semester. Lecturers are selected by the ifk.

The Eric Wolf Lecture is held annually in the autumn and is a cooperation initiative involving the Austrian Academy of Sciences (ÖAW), the Institute for Social Anthropology (ISA) and the ifk International Research Center for Cultural Studies | University of Art and Design Linz in Vienna. The series is held in honor of social anthropologist Eric Wolf (1923-1999), who was born in Vienna and immigrated to the USA.
Eminent scholars from the world of social anthropology are invited to Vienna for the Eric Wolf Lecture. The format is a lecture and a subsequent seminar that takes place at the ifk on the following day. The seminar provides an opportunity to discuss the presentation with the lecturer or lecturers in a smaller group format.
